Naruko

A Onsen village where you can experience the colors of the four seasons

It is a famous hot spring resort with a history of more than 1000 years. There are a wide variety of qualities in the spring water and 9 out of 11 kinds of qualities in spring water in Japan are found here. It has been a popular spot for hot springs since ancient times.

These sweet boiled chestnuts individually wrapped in omochi rice paste and with a thick Mitarashi-style soy sauce poured on top are a specialty of Naruko.

It has a depth of 100 meters and a large canyon spanning about 2.5 km. From the middle of October to the beginning of November, the leaves on the trees turn red, the whole mountain is bright and it is am agnificent scene.

Katanuma Surf Up Paddle

A caldera lake made by a volcanic eruption over 1000 years ago. The SUP (stand up puddle) experiences are also popular because the blue water is beautiful and there are no waves.

Painting kokeshi in Naruko

They are wooden dolls that were created in Naruko more than 200 years ago and you can experience painting them in one of the many workshops in the town.
